Aim
The aim of the course is to prepare a given project assignment independently or in a small group after acquiring the basic knowledge related to production planning and each manufacturing technology. The project assignment may include the engineering design of selected special manufacturing equipment, performing and evaluating experiments related to manufacturing technologies or measurement tasks, performing tasks related to NC programming, CAD/CAM applications and applications of industrial robots, and creating technical documentation. Students work in groups of 1-3 people.
Learning outcomes
Competences that can be acquired by completing the course
Knowledge
Understands the steps required to solve a project assignment. Identifies the methods and technologies to be used during the project assignment. Compares the different options for solving a project assignment. Is informed in the field of various manufacturing processes. Knows the methods and most important steps of production planning. Has the knowledge to write an NC program. Is familiar with different methods of experimental design in the field of chip removal. Is familiar with the various measurement procedures and tools used in manufacturing. Is familiar with the methods of statistical evaluation of the quantities measured during tests. Possesses the basic requirements for creating technical documentation.
Ability
Can define the steps required to solve a project task. Can select the methods and technologies needed to solve a project assignment. Can evaluate and compare different solution options for a project assignment. Applies the manufacturing processes and procedures required to solve the given project assignment. Applies the production planning methods required to solve the given project assignment. Creates the NC program required to solve the given project assignment. Prepares the technical background and measurement system needed to perform tests. Applies the measurements needed to complete a given project assignment. Prepares the evaluation of the data measured during tests. Prepares the technical documentation required for the project assignment.
Attitude
Constantly monitors the own work, results and conclusions. Self-expands the owned knowledge of energy management and sustainability through continuous learning. Is open to the application of information technology tools. Self-develops the ability to provide accurate and error-free problem solving, engineering precision and accuracy. Monitors changes in the social, economic and political system. Publishes own results following professional rules. Publishes own opinions and views without offending others.
Independence and responsibility
Collaborates with the instructor and fellow students to expand knowledge. Accepts well-founded professional and other critical remarks. Works with fellow students to solve tasks as part of a team in some situations. Makes responsible, well-founded decisions based on analysis and acquired knowledge. Is committed to the principles and methods of systems thinking and problem-solving.
Teaching methodology
The transfer of knowledge is basically done through continuous and regular consultations with the supervisor. The knowledge required to perform the given project assignment is to review the knowledge of catalogues, standards and the previously completed courses, and to research internet and literature independently. Special mention should be made of the study of up-to-date foreign language journal articles. The student prepares documentation on the completed project assignment and reports on the progress and results of the assigned task in an oral presentation at the end of the semester.

Validity of the course description
Start of validity: | 2024. January 1. |
End of validity: | 2028. July 15. |
General rules
The learning outcome is determined based on evaluating a project assignment developed individually or in a small group during the semester. The evaluation is based on six months of professional work and progress (1), documentation summarizing the tasks performed and the results (2), and an oral presentation of the work (3). At least 41% completion of all three sub-performances is required to pass the course. The midterm mark is determined by summarizing the partial performances.
Assessment methods
Detailed description of mid-term assessments
Mid-term assessment No. 1 | ||
Type: | formative assessment, project-based, complex | |
Number: | 1 | |
Purpose, description: | The basic goal of partial performance assessment is to examine learning outcomes belonging to the competence groups of knowledge and ability. The way to do this is to complete an individual or group project assignment. One-person or group assignments of up to 3 people must be finalized by the second week of the midterm. The subtasks to be performed during the project, the expectations related to the consultation with the supervisor, and the expectations related to the documentation and the formal requirements, are included in terms of reference. The supervisor evaluates the professional quality of the project assignment and the documentation. A maximum of 30 points can be awarded for half-year work, progress, and a maximum of 50 points for documentation and its professional content. | |
Mid-term assessment No. 2 | ||
Type: | formative assessment, point-in-time personal act | |
Number: | 1 | |
Purpose, description: | The basic aim of the partial performance assessment is to examine attitudes and learning outcomes belonging to the competence groups of autonomy and responsibility. The way to do this is to present the professional content, progress and results of the completed project assignment in an oral presentation at the end of the midterm. If the assignment is done in groups, all students should participate equally in the oral presentation. The expectations and requirements related to the presentation are included in terms of reference. The quality of the presentation, the professional content and the professional statement of the students are evaluated by a group of supervisors participating in the education. You can get up to 20 points with this task. If the project task is completed in groups or presented, differentiation is possible in assessing students. |
Detailed description of assessments performed during the examination period
The subject does not include assessment during the examination period.
The weight of mid-term assessments in signing or in final grading
ID | Proportion |
---|---|
Mid-term assessment No. 1 | 80 % |
Mid-term assessment No. 2 | 20 % |
The condition for signing is that the score obtained in the mid-year assessments is at least 40%.
The weight of partial exams in grade
There is no exam belongs to the subject.
Determination of the grade
Grade | ECTS | The grade expressed in percents |
---|---|---|
very good (5) | Excellent [A] | above 92 % |
very good (5) | Very Good [B] | 85 % - 92 % |
good (4) | Good [C] | 71 % - 85 % |
satisfactory (3) | Satisfactory [D] | 56 % - 71 % |
sufficient (2) | Pass [E] | 41 % - 56 % |
insufficient (1) | Fail [F] | below 41 % |
